Capturing Every Day Moments

So this is my first blog. If you are reading this, yay! I do not consider myself a very interesting person to start a blog but I am getting away from the standard website. I want my clients to get to know me through my blog instead of just seeing a gallery. You can still view my work on this blog and will be able to see my sneak peeks. Bare with me as I get use to blogging!!

Now with technology in smart phones with built in cameras and options, it is not hard to capture a good image with your phone. This does not replace those in the photography industry that have more of artistic style to their images and better quality. But, you can still be capturing amazing photo's!! Most already know but if you do not, while your camera is opened on your phone, tap on the screen to set your focus. You can move that focal point and watch the lighting on your image change.

For example hold your phone up to a bright window and try to take a picture. Your phone will automatically focus on the window and will darken the surrounding area of the window. Now tap your screen anywhere around the window and watch the focus and lighting change to that surrounding area. Wow right! Practice with your phone and before you know it you will be taking amazing photos.

Now that you have the camera down on the phone what about your camera? Yeah they still make those. If you have a DSLR camera, will have to blog another day on how to work that in manual mode.

Now that you know how to work that camera on your phone how do we get "good" photos of our kids? It's not as hard as you may think. First of all don't make them do a specific pose and make your kid end up crying or mommy ready for a drink and pulling your hair out. Make it fun for both of you. No tears should be produced in this. If you take them to a specific location you have in mind, think about what you want to have them do before you place them. Practice with a toy or older child that will sit still! Test your shot first then have the child sit where you want them to go. Play a game with them. Pretend you are going to tickle them, sing a song or my favorite to do with my kids, tell them a story. You will watch the emotion come out of them. I like to tell my kids funny stories about my brothers and I. I get big smiles when I tell them about the time my older brother and I strapped their uncle to a car seat and sent him down the stairs. Don't worry he is okay, well we think. After you get that shot you want, put your phone away and enjoy your kids!! We often forget to sit and enjoy the moment and have a mental picture of that day. We really do not need 100's of photos. Get simple memorable shots and spend the rest of your time with your family creating memories.

May God bless you all!
